Courageous Conversations
We are delighted to announce that, IWFC Toronto Chapter Courageous Conversations program will be continued in 2022, offering IWF members unique content focused on leadership strategies for our careers and personal life. Please share this exciting news with your network as guests are welcome and we encourage you to register them! Consider inviting a friend, a colleague, a mentee or a mentor.
This four-part series, will be led by Judith Humphrey, a communications expert, founder of The Humphrey Group Inc., and a pioneer in the field of leadership communications. Her firm’s program, Taking the Stage, shows women how to speak with confidence, conviction, and leadership presence.
The workshops in this program will feature the theme of “Achieving Influential Leadership in Everyday Conversations.” It takes courage to lead, it takes the willingness to express one’s voice and views in these situations, and it takes an ability to organize one’s thoughts and bring them forward clearly, courageously, and confidently. Those who attend these sessions will develop these skills and realize their power to influence as leaders in everyday situations.
All of the workshops will be delivered virtually and be a combination of learning and opportunities to apply your new skills. Your registration includes all 4 workshops throughout 2022.
Workshop I - Conversations with Your Boss or Senior Executives - PAST
Recording from February 10th, 2022
As a leader, some of the most challenging conversations involve influencing someone "above" you. This session focuses on leading “upward,” holding your own, making a solid case when formulating your message, and expressing to a senior person what you would like to see happen.
Workshop 2 - Conversations with an Influencer - PAST
Recording from April 21st, 2022
Courageous leadership is also necessary when you’re networking, seeking support from a mentor or sponsor, or pitching yourself to a hiring manager in a job interview. At times we can hesitate to ask for favours or advance our credentials. This session will show you how to craft your “elevator pitch” when asking for help from an influencer or pitching yourself in a job interview.
Workshop 3 - Conversations with Colleagues or Team Members - PAST
Recording from September 15th, 2022
Courageous leadership is vital in meetings with colleagues and team members. There are situations when you need to guide your team collaboratively. This session will show you how to summon the courage to step in, express your point of view, and do so while showing respect and sensitivity.
Workshop 4 - Conversations with Family and Friends
December 1st, 2022 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm EST
Courageous leadership spans conversations outside the office, with parents, siblings, children or friends. Leading in these situations calls for listening, empathy, support – and the courage to express a viewpoint that can improve a relationship or guide one through a challenging situation.
We encourage all members to participate in this exciting program. If you have any questions please contact Barbara Bellissimo.
